The COVID-19 vaccine race is developing very rapidly as the entire world is waiting for the new salvation from the virus.
However, from all the pharma companies around the world that are participating in the vaccine race, not all are following the ethical standards in vaccine production, and some can even be more harmful than helpful for the global population.
For this reason, nine biopharmaceutical companies have signed an agreement for respecting “high ethical standards” in the vaccine development, promising they would not seek a premature approval of their newly-elaborated vaccines.
The pledge that the companies signed was released today, and it says, “We, the undersigned biopharmaceutical companies, want to make clear our on-going commitment to developing and testing potential vaccines for COVID-19 in accordance with high ethical standards and sound scientific principles.”
Last week the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) announced that they will possibly give emergency use authorization to some companies even before trial 3 is over, which would mean allowing half-way done vaccines for massive use.
To prevent any possible negative outcome, the nine companies signed the pledge to only release their vaccines when all trials are done, and the vaccine is safe for use.
