Russia is the first country to have a promising coronavirus vaccine, although many other countries are in the advanced vaccine development stages.
Russia’s new vaccine is called “Sputnik-V”, and it is still in the third phase of testing.
Governments of twenty countries have applied for over billion doses of “Sputnik-V”, seeing this vaccine as the only hope for salvation.
The director of the Russia Direct Investment Fund, Kirill Dmitriev, said, “Along with our foreign partners, we are already prepared to manufacture over 500 million doses of vaccine per year in five countries, and the plan is to ramp-up production capacity even higher.”
According to Dmitriev, the countries that are mostly interested in the Russian vaccine are South American, Asian, and Middle East countries.
The vaccine was developed by the Gamaleya Institute and the third phase of testing will continue abroad, including thousands of participants.
The plan is to test the vaccine in Saudi Arabia, and other countries that are going to sign a contract with Russia.
“Sputnik-V” is the first coronavirus vaccine to get approved in the world, placing Russia on the top of a global scientific force list.
However, western mas media is showing open skepticism towards the new vaccine, claiming that Russia is not providing the world with data from scientific testing.
Whether the competition vaccine developers like it or not, Russia is the first to launch the wide use of “Sputnik-V”.
