Finally good news for New York – the coronavirus positivity rate is lowest since the beginning of the pandemic.
Governor Andrew Cuomo announced the good news on Monday, saying that the positivity rate in New York at the moment is .7%.
This is not only optimistic for the state but also the country, as the coronavirus infection rate is dropping.
Americans are hoping that other states will follow the example of New York, and start getting back to their normal lives again.
Since June, New York has been averaging 1% positivity or under, and today the numbers are finally going down.
New York has lost six people to coronavirus on Monday, while hospitalization rates are also dropping.
Another good news for New Yorkers is that gyms can officially reopen across the state as soon as August 24, with only 33% of capacity.
Facial masks will be mandatory, and new ventilation regulations will take place this week.
Local authorities must inspect the gyms to see if they follow the rules, and this needs to be done before September 2.
If the gyms have their localities ready for inspection, they can open on August 24, if not, they can use an additional week to prepare for inspection, and open on September 2.
