Italy reports the highest coronavirus daily record in five months.
The European country is climbing the top lists among its neighbors, and there are signs for new lockdown on the horizon.
On Wednesday, the Italian Ministry of Health reported at least 3,678 new coronavirus cases across the country, a number that they haven’t seen in five months.
Medical officials are now testing twice as many people as in April when the highest daily positivity rate was 3,786 on April 16.
Processing double more COVID-19 tests than at the beginning of the pandemic is helping the health authorities to understand the behavior of the virus and create new guidelines for the nation.
The total number of positive cases in Italy is 333,940, and it’s expected for this number to go up as we approach the cold season.
After reopening, Italy started spotting a new increase in the spread, which is a result of people not respecting the advice of the medical authorities.
If everyone would respect the protective measures, the statistics would be different, and we won’t be facing another horrific wave of infections and countless COVID-19 deaths.
