Israel Announces a New Lockdown After Increase in Daily Cases

Schools, businesses, restaurants, and all the public sector will close for three weeks, and if the situation doesn’t improve, the lockdown will be extended.

Pharmacies and food stores will remain open, and people won’t be allowed to leave their homes further than 500m.

Israel is reporting over 4,000 new infections per day, a number that scared the officials and the local population.

According to Netanyahu, the country had 4,217 new cases on Thursday and the number kept increasing in the following days.

On Saturday, 513 cases were hospitalized as serious, while 138 needed ventilators.

The outdoor gatherings in Israel will be limited to 20 people. The indoor gatherings are limited to only 10.

Although announced today, the lockdown will start on Friday, and it will last until the spread slows down.
