France Sets a New COVID-19 Infection Record

France was one of the countries with the highest positivity rate in coronavirus cases during the first wave of the pandemic.

Then, the country eased the lockdown, and people started going back to their workplaces, thanks to the decrease in new infections.

However, the good news didn’t last for too long, and this week France reported the highest positivity rate since the beginning of the global pandemic, 9,843 per day.

So far, their highest daily rate was 8,975 last Friday, but it looks like the numbers are skyrocketing again.

One of the good things about France is that the government is issuing the largest number of diagnostic COVID-19 tests.

This week 1,081,208 million tests were conducted among the local population, and they plan to increase the number of tests in the following weeks.

From the 1,081,208 million tests, 5,4% of the results were positive, which is an alarming rate, and might lead to new lockdown measures which would affect the economy of the country.

The total number of infections in France is 353,944, and 30,813 have died due to COVID-19.
