Argentina’s Numbers Going Up, Brazil’s Infection Rates Out of Control

South America is known as the epicenter of the second wave of coronavirus.

The largest surprise from this continent comes from Argentina, a country that seemed to manage the pandemic successfully.

However, this changed recently, and Argentina reports an increase in new infections.

According to the country’s ministry of health, Thursday was the day with the highest increase in infection rate, counting 5,938 new COVID-19 infections.

This sums up to the total number of infected people in Argentina that is now 185,373.

On Thursday, 153 new deaths were reported, bringing the total death rate to 3,441.

Argentina is now the sixth most infected country in Latin America, according to statistics from Johns Hopkins University.

The first five places belong to Brazil, Mexico, Peru, Colombia, and Chile.

Speaking of Brazil, the situation is not getting any better. Brazil still holds second place in the world, right after the United States.

On Thursday, the ministry of health in Brazil reported 57,837 new coronavirus cases. The total number of infected people in Brazil is 2,610,102.

The death toll is also on the rise, reaching 91,263 with the new 1,129 from today.

Last weekend Brazil’s Bolsonaro tested negative after four positive tests, while his wife, the first lady of Brazil, tested positive to coronavirus today.
